Why is my voice over IP phone service not clear? I use Net Zero Voice and lately I have been getting complaints that my voice is not clear. What is the deal? Is it the service? The head set that I am using? Or? What is the cost to get a converter to use a regular phone? Will this help make it more clear?
difference between Skype and other voice over ip phone? ? I am using Packet8, which works the same way as Vonage, Comcast, and others. I pay MONTHLY charges for the phone services, plus whatever calls I make internationally. There are some limitation on Packet8, so I am wondering if Skype is a better option for me. My questions are: 1. Does Skype work the same way as Packet8? Packet8 needs a gismo hardware box (similar to a router) for transferring data, without installing any software. I know that I will have to install a software for Skype; will I need a gismo box for Skype? 2. It does not matter if I make any international calls at all, I have to pay MONTHLY fee for Packet8. Is Skype the same way? 3. Is Skype fax enabled? 4. Are there options of adding one or more extra phone NUMBERS (not phone lines) for Skype? 5. I am going to use Skype to home phones (not Skype to Skype); will the quality of line be clear enough without interruptions or errors? I have some trouble using Packet8 sometimes. Thank you
Voice Over IP Technology for Home Phone - will my Fax Machine Work? Hi, does it work with a fax machine connected to it? the phone company mentioned "for some people he fax works, for some it doesn't". Does it make sense they can not tell me in advance if the fax will work or not? also, I have 256kb/second upload speed and 1MB/second download speed - is this sufficient for reasonable quality when using Voice over IP technology? THANKS.
Why do telephone numbers that are NOT in service show on my phone's caller ID? I'm using internet voice over IP phone service (VoIP) from ITalkBB. Sometimes I call back the unrecognized phone numbers and get the message of "I'm sorry, the number you have reached is not in service." I suspect the calls from these numbers are from telemarketing agents. No matter who they are but how do they use a bogus phone number? Or are there any explanations about this? - I don't think it's my phone's problem because I have three phones with caller IDs and all of them show the same number.

Voice over IP for Satellite internet connection, can it be done? I have a friend who has some kind of wireless connection that includes a radio that is attached to his house (not a satellite dish) and he uses magic jack for a phone service witch is a voice over IP device. I am currently looking at a satellite internet connection, (Hughes net) to use as my home internet connection. I contacted Magic Jack and asked if it would work over a satellite internet connection, and their people told me that there is no such thing as voice over IP on a satellite connection. I live in a remote area, and there is only one ISP/ telephone company. They have the area monopolized so the prices are fairly high. I am looking for any suggestions I can get to help offset the cost, but the catch is I will have to access the web via satellite. There isn't any cell phone services that get a strong enough signal in the area to go that route, atleast that I know of. The zip is 48746. Thanks for your help!
Could my VOIP phone be affecting the performance of my cell phone? I got a voice over IP phone a few months ago. ... It has had its share of problems, but it is much more affordable than a landline. As one of the features, I have it set up to forward calls my my cell phone after a certain number of rings. So here's the problem part and the weird part: There is a phone company for right outside my city limits. They have their own set of numbers. (I am guessing this is normal) A few weeks ago I started getting a 30 second or more delay before the numbers at my office would ring from either of my phones. Fast-forward to this weekend. I can not get through to work at all from my cell phone. In fact, for EVERY number in that area, I get a recording that the number has been disconnected or is no longer in use. Since Friday: If I call this area from my home VoIP phone, I usually get tired of hearing the silence. If I wait long enough, sometimes I get a fast beeping (as if I left my phone off the hook too long), one time I actually got through! And twice (once when calling the phone company's number and once when calling work) the call was forwarded to my cell phone. This makes absolutely no sense to me! ... OK, maybe if the voice over IP company is misconfigured that would have something to do with my calls being forwarded to my cell phone twice. But why on Earth can't I call that area from my cell phone? At first I thought the numbers I was trying to call were broken. But when I tried from my grandmother's house, it went through perfectly. Her phone is from the cable company, so it isn't a regular landline either. Things got even weirder when I spoke to my own phone company! -- I guess I will email or drive to the phone company in charge of the numbers I can't get through to Monday. (lol, I tried calling them, but since they have a number local to theirself - I couldn't get through!)
Why the voice over IP keeps dropping ? The phone and DSL I am using keep dropping. If is frustrating. I could be talking to someone and the line is off. Sometimes the line is off for a day or several days. It is no way of communicating with people in business. It is stressful. Can anyone tell me the cure of this ? I hope someone out there would know the answers.
Where can I find cable tv similiar to voice over ip for cheap??? I am wondering where to find a cable tv service that works over high speed internet (similar to the way vonage works) because in my town the cable company dosent offer cable internet so ill have to get dsl from the phone company which is to expensive to get it and satellite or regular wired cable. lemme correct myself I ment similiar to the way vonage is an internet phone service (VoIP) Is there an internet Tv service. I saw something once which is like a cable box that hooks up to a router that was for a porn company but i want one that has regular tv stations.
Best voice over IP company? Netzero Voice is shutting down in December and I need to transfer my service to another company. What is involved in doing this? What is the best VOIP company to use? Who has the best prices? I need unlimited calling as well. I need a soft phone too. Thanks!
Would you use this fundraising program? I have found out that there are mixed feelings about fundraising programs where you sale candy and things like that. In most cases people end up buying these products not because they want them but just to support the fundraisers. What is your feeling towards a fundraising program that sells telecommunication products like mobile phones, Voice over IP phones, Satellite TV and things like that? Thanks for all your contribution. Just to clarify, the program sells the same products at the same deals or even better than one can find in the shops. For example, there are a lot of free cell phones, or satellite subscriptions without installation costs. Plus of course, the convenience of online shopping. Does this change your view?
Voice Over IP (VoIP) and Video over IP (VoIP)? Thechlology has changed, new doors have opened, and it's time to bring back ideas that where too early for their time. Not too long ago, there where several companies involved in VideoPhone, it did no work, why? Because the communication lines where too slow (small bandwidth). Now, we have Cable, and DSL with very high speed available to most residents. VoIP has also improved significantly over those bandwidth, so why not go to the next step and add the video? There are already planty of VoIP phones, a simple modification and adding a small screen (the same ones used for digital cameras) and a small camera (similar to the ones used in PC cameras) and syncronizing the image with the voice and sending it with the same packet of voice. Why can't we go there? I would jump into that venture.

Anyone using these "triple play" packages offered by Verizon or Comcast? Are they any good? I received a flyer from Comcast offering Digital Cable, Hi-speed Internet, and Internet (Voice Over IP) Phone service for $99 for one year. I know Verizon offers a similar deal, except with DirecTV sattelite TV. I pay close to $200/month for Verizon DSL and Verizon Unlimited Long Distance (US), and regular non-digital Comcast cable now, so these sound like good deals. Anyone out there using any of these packages? What is the good, bad, and the uh-gly?
Is it okay to answer my phone "US Attorney's Office?"? I am getting calls on my cell phone soliciting online pharmacies and they are relentless and they use Voice over IP (VOIP) numbers that are difficult to trace. I simply want to get my phone number off their database. I figure answering "US Attorney's Office" and then asking for their information may do the trick. I don't know if it is illegal to answer my own phone in this manner? Help. Thanks.
Girlfriend said she was busy but answered her ex's phone call? So my girlfriend has a history of being sneaky and not telling the truth. Today she was not answering my phone calls and it was really unusual. I know that she is always talking to her stupid ex boyfriend, so I checked to see just how busy she actually was. I called her from my phone but used a voice over IP so she thought it was her ex boyfriend calling (it showed his number instead of mine). She picked up right away. I hung up. I called her about 5 minutes later and she didn't answer. I text her and asked why she wasn't responding and she called back 5 minutes later saying she was too busy to answer my calls. I asked her if she had answered anyone else's call and she got mad and said no. Then I asked her if she was sure and she got more mad and said no again. But I know she was lying to me because I heard her voice on the phone. What do I do about this? **Just to let you know, she will not stop talking to her ex no matter what and gets furious when I say I don't really like it. We have been together for a year so it hurts to think that it could end.

Using a Cisco IP Phone with Optimum Online? Hello, We have a small network using optimum onlines business voice plan. I was wondering if somehow, connecting a Cisco IP phone to the switcher we have (which goes to the optimum modem which controls the internet and phone) will make it work like a regular phone, or if there was anyway to do this? Thanks
Cisco download area access question, IOS, IP Phone firmware.? Hey, I need to download Cisco IOS and Voice software from the Cisco download area. I understand that I need a service contract attached with my CCO Login to be able to access the download area for downloads. I wanted to know if 'any' service contract would grant me the access for the whole download area or download access is limited to type of service contract I have. For example, if I have a service contract associated to my CCO Login that I have purchased for an IP Phone, I would be able to access the phone firmwares and probably the voice softwares like unity too but would I be able to download IOS with that too? I had an office ID that was attached with a service contract and was able to download both IOS and Voice softwares. Anyone with an IP Phone service contract who could tell me or someone who has some knowledge about it would care to elaborate. I would highly appreciate it. Shirely
Cisco IP 7970 phone system - How to reset the default voicemail option? I have been provided with a new phone by my company which features different setting options including voicemail setting. As default setting, you have the system voice recorded which plays (when non-answering the phone) and to which you can add your name (with your own voice) at the end of the default system voice message. The problem is that when I recorded my name, I hanged up because I couldn't do it properly (I was laughing....) and wanted to try later. But unfortunatly, the default voice system has disapeared. How can I reset the default voice system please?
Should I be able to use a Cisco VG200 w/ 2vic for a regular phone line to IP phone? Though i don't have a real life PBX as it's unrealistic for home use, nor multiple phone lines, will the voice gateway allow me to use an IP phone/ create other extension to other phones (in theory).. dial 9 our.. get the drift. I can't afford the Cisco CallManager hardware in my dreams but I know there are IOS Command line that can do similar. I'm hoping the VG200 will allow all this without the need for Asterik or even work in conjunction. Though I'd like to go the CCVP way of business... All I want is to hook up a phone line in the VIC on the Voice Gateway then do the proper configs in between (if possible as my question poses) to get a dial-tone on a Cisco IP phone then be using VOIP. Thanks for your help! =) Oh yea, bonus question, are there a Windows version of CallManager or is that pretty much just hardware?
How do you daisy chain a Cisco IP phone to a PC if they are supposed to be on separate Vlans? According to my Cisco book, voice and data need to be on separate vlans. And further, different Vlans are always different subnets. But where I work, the IP phone is daisy chained to the PC from the the switch port. So, the phone is plugged into the wall going to a PoE switch port, and the PC is plugged into the phone with a short patch cable. So one switch port and two vlans? Or one switch port and QoS managed flow on one Vlan? OK, so the frame bound to the PC has to go through the phone. I can't find any info on how this is done. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I want to integrate some IP phones on my Satellite Internet connection? Like said above. I have a high speed Satellite Internet Connection with a contention ratio of 1/5 .I have roughly 7 users browsing at the same time. I want to integrate some satellite phones on my LAN. --1. I am in Iraq and I dont have much access to the outside world except with my main office (who have no technical expertise) (besides i would like to understand this project before i get a quote from my head office) --2. I have my VSAT Modem hooked up to a 15something port 10/100 ethernet switch with 7 laptops connected and in use all the time. --3. I must have very good quality voice capabilities to communicate with various clients across the world --4. I preffer good VOIP Hardware Phones rather than yahoo and skype. Yahoo and skype are cheaper but i preffer the Hardware phones. Yahoo and Skype are second options. --5. Do i have to implement some sort of a Quality of service thing on my Satellite Modem to enable good VOIP capabilities? Thanks. I would appreciate your reply.
