Hijacked IP Address....? I was recently looking on the web for a free film site and was looking at one or two.... Then all of a sudden I was being contacted saying thank you for opening a monthly subscription account you now have film viewing etc etc. I found they had ended up on my desktop. I think someone tried to access my AOL account, but I didn't get locked out. Can AOL tell me the IP address? I think my former roommate tried to access my AOL account, I was told by a witness that she tried about 20 times. Thing is, my account never locked up, and my password still works. VPN, getting U.S. IP from abroad, streaming content? I am currently living in Okinawa, Japan. There are a few sites I like to stream content from that require an IP address from the U.S. I have found a couple free web-based VPN clients that help me get around this problem, but they have a couple drawbacks - 1) they have a bandwidth cap and 2) they are too slow for me to continue streaming my Slingbox and Vonage phone. What I'm looking for (and I'm willing to pay a reasonable price if there's no such thing as a free service that offers all of it) is a VPN client that: -- will give me a US IP address -- has no bandwidth cap (or a very high one) -- that allows me to split tunnel so I can continue to stream content that does not require a U.S. IP at the normal high speed rate my fiber optic carrier gives me. Sync Skype and Magicjack? Just thought just kinda popped into my head... I am getting an iPod Touch soon and would like to make free phones calls to any landline or cell phone. I know you can call with skype and pay a quite low monthly bill, but I'm too cheap for that. I do own a Magicjack, though, so I was wondering if there is a way to sync a skype account and magicjack in order to make free phone calls. Unable to uninstall PCTools Antivirus? I've had this program for about a year. I installed the Vista SP1 and suddenly have problems. Tried to restore to before SP1 but the restore hung on the Registry for 4 hours till I finally shut it down and rebooted to the latest good boot through Safe Mode. So, now my problem with PCTools antivirus is that I can't get into it AT ALL to stop it and I can't uninstall it unless I do (wanted to install a different antivirus). In process of trying, I've run across all sorts of errors and PCTools won't help at all since it's a free version. These are some of the things I've done/seen while working on this: 1) Removed it from the startup menu - but it's still running 2) Installed newest version hoping that it would overwrite the old and I would be able to get into it. Well, I could but the old version was still running! And I could not get online anymore. After an hour on phone with my IP who told me he could see my modem, I restored back to before I installed new version. Hot does TMobile Hotspot@home know when I am on my home network? I just switched to this service (the cellular version, not the home phone version) and the details from sales associates are confusing or sketchy at best. How does the phone know I am on my home wifi and that this is unlimited minutes, as opposed to connecting to any (non home or t-mo hotspot) wifi network? Are ALL wifi calls free, or do I somehow need to register my home IP as being the free portion for home usage? Calls should be unlimited for me at home, but I want to make sure they will be before I use the phone like crazy and burn up all my any time minutes.... I have read online from other users that ALL wifi calling is free, so that the phone doesn't need to know what your home IP or any details are, it will simply make ANY call over wifi free..... wi-fi on iphones? i just got an iphone and i really need help setting up wi-fi on it. i have a locked/private wireless network at home, and whenever i try to use the router password for network password on the iphone, it says "incorrect password." am i using the correct password or is there another one i should be using? i havent filled any info (the BootP, Static, or DHCP; and under that the IP address, router, etc.) nor the VPN settings (idk if i should use PPTP or L2TP, and once i figure out that, i dont know what to put in the other parts) do i need to fill out this information to get the internet to work? or is my iphone just acting up? i dont know if it is something wrong with the phone though, because i can get onto to free networks with it help if you can. thanks!
