Cisco Phone System

Cisco Telephone Systems Knowledge Base

Where Do I Start? Data communications/Cisco? My dad runs his own business with computers and he sets up telephone systems and all kinda of data communication things. I would like to take over it one day but I have zero knowledge about that kind of information. I would like to start doing Cisco Systems certifications but I think I need to have prior knowledge about it, so does anyone have any idea where I'd start?
Cisco IP telephone technology? http://www.starshipcorp.com/shop_dealer/images/Cisco%20IP%20Phone%20CP-7941G.jpeg My school has Cisco IP telephones in all offices. Like the one shown above. Whats the specialty of IP telephones as compared to the usual telephone at home? Does the IP telephone operate on the local intranet/ethernet? And the voice is sent as packets? Hence how can u guarantee about quality as packets might get lost/damaged due to network congestion? Also, if a certain institution has an IP phone system that means their internal calls are free of charge right? (As they already have an ethernet network)
CISCO certificate is worth it ? How much money you can make when you found a job? Which one should I choose ? I heard that I guy have a very good job in a telephone company because he owns a CISCO certificate. Actually they bring him from abroad for this position because it suppose that he is specialized in something that not many ones have knowledge about. Because of that I'm considering to acquire a CISCO certificate. I have basic knowledge of networks (had set up networks lab in my school as I was system administrator) , I heard that the first level is easy but I don't know about the other two levels..
How do you see Nandan Nilekani's decision of leaving Infosys and joining government? Nandan Nilekani is the face of the rise of India as a tech powerhouse. As co-founder of Infosys, he has helped transform the global software industry. In a forward to Nilekani's recently published book, "Imagining India: The Idea of a Renewed Nation," New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman writes, "Silicon Valley has Steve — as in Jobs. Seattle has Bill — as in Gates ... And Bangalore has Nandan — as in Nilekani." Bangalore-based Infosys was created by a handful of smart engineers with just $250. Its business remains strong despite the global recession. The company, which last year reported annual sales of $4.18 billion, has designed part of the wing of the Airbus A380 super-jumbo, written code for companies such as Apple and Cisco Systems, and even creates economic reports for U.S. investment banks. The 53-year-old executive, who is co-chairman of the Infosys board, swung through Silicon Valley recently. He will leave that position next month when he becomes chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)., which is similar to the U.S. Social Security Administration. According to me, this is a sign of the discussion that we often have in our coffee room and drawing room that good people should come forward and become the part of system instead of accusing system. Even though some of the literate and knowledgeable people have reached parliament through upper and lower house but that number is extremely insufficient. In such situation, we need capable to come forward and become the part of system to reform the system. We need people who have knowledge and experience not only in management but in technology can really bring reform in the system. People like Nandan Nilekani are not hungry for red light vehicle thus accepting appointment as chairman of UIDAI, is definitely for serving the nation. Leaving Infosys the organization that had built from the scratch with his hard work would not have been a easy decision for him. At this time, I can only remember of another appointment of Indian government when Indian Government appointed Sam Pitroda in 1984 as the chair person of newly formed department C-DOT. Not to forget, he started PCO system in India that brought telephone charges in India to a affordable price. There must me more such appointments but I am sure not many, that I can mention. I congratulation, Mr. Nandan Nilenkani on his decision to sacrifice his corporate life and business and coming to public life to serve the Nation. What is your view? Do you think it is right decision of the government to invite Mr. Nilenkani to join the government? And do you think it is right decision of Mr. Nelenkani to leave InfoSys and join the government? Do you think he will bring some change?
Is there a device which turns the digital signal into analogue using VoIP? I work at a radio station, and we're moving our phone system over to VoIP. However, we need to turn the digital feed coming from our Cisco 7960's into an analogue feed [normal phone line cable] so that we can plug it into our Telephone Balance Unit / Hybrid, so we can put the calls to air. However I haven't found a device that can do this, any ideas?

I nid a 1721 config for 2 routers with vwic-1Mft-E1 & comon LAN to set a E1(over ip) link for 2 PBXs (no ISDN The two traditional PBXs were previously linked via their (electrical)E1 interfaces by a multiple E1 carrier system over single mode fibre. The two routers -one is actually a 2610- were linked via vwic-1Mft-E1 interfaces thus the WAN link was a 2mb/s link. Now the carrier system is obsolete and 100base-fx fibre converters are to replace the at either end where two Cisco 2950-24 switches are connected thus placing all devices under one LAN and providing a greater LAN bandwidth than the previous 2Mb/s WAN Link. However the telephone exchanges at either end still need to be taken care of in the new set-up. What I need are the configuration commands for the two routers.
