How do I get two cisco 7940 phones to ring simultaneously without using a shared line? I have a person that works in two separate offices as a manager. Each office is in a separate location, dev pool, partition...etc, and each has a different directory number. The current manager will switch locations on a regular basis and wants to have it so it doesn't matter if one or the other line is called, it will ring in either office. Presumably, a new person will soon be hired to take over as manager in one or the other office, so I don't want to implement sharing the lines between offices, because although that might be the easiest solution, it's not good to have lines from different partitions appearing all over the network on devices in other partitions...it could quickly become a mess. So, I'd just like to have both numbers ring at the same time when one or the other is called. I was looking at line groups and hunt lists, but don't want to create a new hunt pilot number that people have to remember to call, or they'd have to change the directory listing.
What is the MAC address prefix (OUI) of Cisco VoIP phones? I have a program that searches for MAC address prefixes to locate where devices are connected on the network. It would be valuable to my customers to be able to locate Cisco VoIP phones, but I need to know the MAC address prefix of some Cisco VoIP phones to be able to locate them.
Shouldnt CISCO IP PHONES be using SHORT RANGE WIRELESS or SHORT RANGE RADIO? Why do we even need black wires that trip people over, and act as a hindrance? The phone is an instrument and must be able to exist like a pet on a table using air to communicate, because air is the carrier of energy. It must also be possible for all CISCO IP PHONES within a particular office using the same preset code to be able to find each other by proxymity by physical location. For example my phone does not even know, what is the phone number of the person sitting right next to my cabin, who has a CISCO IP phone also. Shouldnt the directory of phone numbers appear DISCOVERED by COMMON CONCEPT of physical location?

Can you use Cisco IP phones in a normal home office environment? I am looking to set up my home office and interested in getting a Cisco IP phone (like the Cisco 7940G IP Phone) to use on sipgate (SIP protocol). Is it am simple as buying the Cisco phone over the net (thinking of buying this one from ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/97297 ) , hooking up to my cable broadband router and configuring with sipgate, and away I go .... or do I have to buy anything special like expensive licenses, expensive power adapters, etc. I am pretty new to all this so advice with more experienced people within the world of IP telephony would be greatly appreciated (along with any recommnedations for a good multi SIP account IP phone). Thanks

How do I enable auto QOS between two 4500 series Cisco switches? How do I enable auto QOS between two 4500 series Cisco switches connected via fiber trunk link? Each switch has an AVAYA IP gateway plugged into it. We would like the voIP traffic flowing between the gateways to have precedence over all other traffic that traverses that link. There are no IP phones plugged into either switch, just gateway to gateway traffic. Thanks!

Basic instructions on setting up a Cisco 7970 phone? I'm having problems even switching on my Cisco phone. Cisco's telephone line is not open on a Saturday, and I'm at my wits ends. I've connected a telephone cable from the phone to my telephone line, along with an ethernet cable from the phone to my PC- but it still won't switch on. (The phones can be powered by the internet). The adaptor I purchased doesn't even fit into the hole in the phone, so powering the phone via traditional methods is out of the question. I've read numerous long winded complicated articles and youtube videos but to no avail... Somone help! https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7970g_7971g-ge/english/5_1/sip/english/adminstraton/guide/7970ins.html I'm sorry but what exactly are you trying to say? What is it I need to do/ buy? Can you be a bit more detailed in your response, please?
what is the easiest way to configure a Cisco 79xx ip phone, without cisco call manager? I have two Cisco phones (I am setting up a voip network) and both of them say "Protocol Application Invalid" I was planning on using them via the voipfone network and NOT through a Linux server or the like, they are not bricked just in need of some TLC.. help!! cheers boys it seems I am up the creek without a paddle.... Will the SPA926 or the new SPA526 be a 'plug and play' phone to use on the voipfone service, and I do not need a dedicated server, am I correct in this assumption?!
Using a Cisco IP Phone with Optimum Online? Hello, We have a small network using optimum onlines business voice plan. I was wondering if somehow, connecting a Cisco IP phone to the switcher we have (which goes to the optimum modem which controls the internet and phone) will make it work like a regular phone, or if there was anyway to do this? Thanks
Cisco IP 7970 phone system - How to reset the default voicemail option? I have been provided with a new phone by my company which features different setting options including voicemail setting. As default setting, you have the system voice recorded which plays (when non-answering the phone) and to which you can add your name (with your own voice) at the end of the default system voice message. The problem is that when I recorded my name, I hanged up because I couldn't do it properly (I was laughing....) and wanted to try later. But unfortunatly, the default voice system has disapeared. How can I reset the default voice system please?

When am I being Monitored? Cisco Phone System? When am I being monitored at work? We have a new phone system at work and I cannot figure out when I am being monitored. My phone says Cisco 7600 IP phone or something like that. I go to my task manager and I see the monitoring program running but it doesn't start to count, my monitor doesn't blink, I do not hear an echo, etc... Does anybody know how to tell if you are being monitored at work when your company is using a Cisco VOIP phone system? I do not care for the "you should just do your job stuff". If you know that answer I would appreciate it. If you just want to preach go take it somewhere else.
Can the Cisco 2621 regular router support Voice PBX rather than the Cisco 2621XM? I'm working on my CCNA with learning some more advanced routing techniques. I'm also wanting to look into CCVP when that's done. If I bought a 2621 (I already have a regular 2621 and 2501 and 2504) will I be able to support voice functionality? I'm just needing something with two phones and learn off of. Can someone give suggestions? Thanks!
Cisco 7960 IP Phone (w/ Sip Firmware) Won't Work? I have a Cisco 7960 IP Phone flashed with SIP firmware is all set up with pbx info set up on the phone, proxy registration on, NAT on, everything set up.. When I call someone through it, outbound or an extension, it gives a "busy" signal tone immediately. Can someone help?
Cisco Inexpensive VOIP solution for newbs? I'm getting a Cisco 1701 which I know supports VOIP and considering a 2621XM to learn. I know both can do PBX (am I right?). I'd like to use a VOIP phone (or two) and use a land line. Also, I plan to set up a point to point connection to peer wanting to do similar. If I wanted to set up voice over land line what do I need to do, and cheaper method is best. I've heard of DID and FXS. DID is more expensive, the cards I've found. What interface cards would I need to accomplish inbound and outbound calling for as cheap (within a 100 range) as possible but functional. Also, say I didn't use a land line though defeat a big purpose, can I still set up two Cisco IP phones linked? Do I need Call Manager Express, is there a cheaper solution like computer based software? I'm confused on logistics and how I could go about this. If anyone could provide info, it would be great!
Voice (PSTN) to VoIP conversation for Cisco.? Can I plug a FXO module directly from the wall PSTN in a 2600XM with CCME and use a Cisco phone and dial-out and receive calls or is a gateway required like Cisco ATA 186? I'm not looking into PBX, I'm not looking into PBX in a flash, etc - I just want a straight through connection - no voicemail - and ideally use one router for it all. If I can't plug it into one router, can I use a gateway easily to CCME for the 2600? Thanks. Please excuse, I am new to this.
Should I be able to use a Cisco VG200 w/ 2vic for a regular phone line to IP phone? Though i don't have a real life PBX as it's unrealistic for home use, nor multiple phone lines, will the voice gateway allow me to use an IP phone/ create other extension to other phones (in theory).. dial 9 our.. get the drift. I can't afford the Cisco CallManager hardware in my dreams but I know there are IOS Command line that can do similar. I'm hoping the VG200 will allow all this without the need for Asterik or even work in conjunction. Though I'd like to go the CCVP way of business... All I want is to hook up a phone line in the VIC on the Voice Gateway then do the proper configs in between (if possible as my question poses) to get a dial-tone on a Cisco IP phone then be using VOIP. Thanks for your help! =) Oh yea, bonus question, are there a Windows version of CallManager or is that pretty much just hardware?
